Our Director



Rahsaan McNeill was apppointed Director of Music of Kanapaha Middle School in June 2006. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Western Carolina University in May 2000. He then went on to receive his Master of Music Performance degree from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati in August 2002. While at Kanapaha, he has led both the band and chorus programs to superior ratings, first-place, and Grand Champion finishes at area music festivals.
Prior to his appointment to Kanapaha Middle School, Mr. McNeill served as an music teacher for the Mount Healthy City School District. He taught general music at Frost Elementary School and band at North Middle School. In addition to public school teaching, he served as a faculty member at Slater Music Academy in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, where he taught private lessons in brass, piano, and voice. He has also performed professionally as an instrumentalist and a classical vocalist throughout the Cincinnati area.
Mr. McNeill has received several honors for his work in music education to include the Western Carolina Outstanding Prospective Teacher Award and the Maxie Beaver Award for Oustanding Teaching of Music. In 2007, he was honored by Pappas and Tapley Orthodontics as their Teacher of the Year.
Mr. McNeill is an active member of the National Association of Music Education (MENC), the Florida Music Educator's Association (FMEA), the Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA), and the Florida Vocal Association (FVA).
